He reports: our mission is to eliminate disparities in health status and improve the access to oral health care services, promote optimum oral health and prevent disease through research, training and preventive and curative services.
The Department, established in 2001, has an under- and postgraduate clinic, and an oral health museum (oral health education centre), used for individual patient counselling and a tobacco cessation program. In the satellite centre in Jaggaur and in a mobile dental unit, basic oral health is rendered to the underprivileged. Under- and postgraduate students have to participate in community outreach projects. The Faculty members also pursue scientific research and present their results nationally and internationally.
In the Academic year 2010-2011 we attended and educated 2727 patients in village dental camps, 5524 patients in school dental health programs and 1204 patients in the Department. It promotes caries prevention through Fluoride application, Pit & fissure sealant application, ART and Preventive Resin Restorations, etc.
